Inside The Syndicate — The Collective Behind SYNMUN

The Syndicate is the collective of ex-delegates, executive board veterans, and policy professionals who designed and operate SYNMUN. Most members operate under handle. Most prefer it that way.

Origin

SYNMUN began as a private invitational in 2023 — a closed-room experiment among ten delegates frustrated with the procedural theatre of mainstream MUN. The first session ran five hours past schedule. Nobody complained. The format was refined across three more invitationals before being opened to public application in 2025.

Doctrine

• ▸Strip the costume. Performance is not diplomacy. Reward the substance, not the speech.
• ▸Test under pressure. Preparation eliminates the only variable worth measuring.
• ▸No favourites. Awards are decided by directive count and substantive impact, not familiarity with the EB.

The Operatives

Identities are partially redacted by design. What is public: the EB pool draws from former Best Delegate winners at HMUN India, JGU, IIMB, and IIT Delhi. Curators sit outside academia — practising lawyers, policy researchers, and one journalist whose byline you have probably read.

The Syndicate is not a club. It is a standard.
