India's Model UN circuit has matured into one of the most competitive in the world. Between Ivy-affiliated invitationals, IIT and IIM-hosted heavyweights, and a wave of independent conferences re-engineering the format, finding the right MUN to apply to is no longer trivial. This is The Syndicate's field guide to the conferences worth your travel, registration fee, and weekend.

1. Harvard Model United Nations India (HMUN India)

The benchmark. Hosted in Hyderabad in partnership with Harvard's IRC, HMUN India draws the strongest delegate pool in the country and runs committees with international procedural discipline. Expect dense study guides, ruthless executive boards, and a delegate fee that reflects all of it.

2. IIM Bangalore MUN

Built around economic and policy committees, IIMB MUN consistently produces some of the sharpest committee design in the country. If your edge is policy fluency over rhetoric, this is your conference.

3. JGU MUN (Jindal Global University)

Strong in legal and human-rights committees, JGU draws law students and operates with the procedural seriousness you'd expect. Sessions run long; awards are earned, not negotiated.

4. SYNMUN — The Syndicate Model UN

We are biased. We are also right. SYNMUN exists because the dominant MUN format rewards preparation over diplomacy. Four hours, no preparation, one delegate remains. No position papers. No pre-written blocs. Agenda dropped at the start of session. The format strips MUN to what it was meant to test in the first place: how a person thinks under pressure.

5. DAIMUN, MUSE, and the Independents
