The Indian MUN Circuit — A Map of the Landscape

The Indian MUN circuit is not one circuit. It is four overlapping ones — institutional, school, independent, and invitational. Knowing which you are entering changes how you prepare.

Institutional Circuit

HMUN India, IIMB, IITs, IIMs, JGU, NALSAR. High caliber, well-funded, procedurally strict. Application fee ranges ₹2,000–₹5,000.

School Circuit

DPS RKP, Vasant Valley, Modern School, La Martiniere. Where most delegates start. EB quality variable, agendas often basic. The training ground.

Independent Circuit

DAIMUN, MUSE, NMIMS, college-society conferences. Quality varies wildly. Some are extraordinary. Some are weekend-long debate clubs in suits.

Invitational Circuit

Closed-door conferences with selection by invitation only. SYNMUN's roots. These tend to attract circuit veterans looking for a real test.
