International Press in MUN — How to Win the Pen Committee
// THE SYNDICATE··7 min READCLEARANCE: PUBLIC
The International Press committee is the strangest room in MUN. There is no resolution. There are no blocs. There is only the pen, the deadline, and the EB's verdict on whether your dispatch shaped the conference's narrative.
Roles
- ▸Reporter — files written dispatches throughout the conference
- ▸Photographer — captures committee imagery, builds visual narrative
- ▸Caricaturist — political cartoons, sharper than the writing usually is
How to Win
Pick an angle in session one. Stick with it. The IP delegate who files five dispatches all on a single thread — say, the slow capitulation of the European bloc on climate financing — beats the one who files ten unfocused pieces.
Cross-Committee Influence
The best IP delegates' dispatches get read in other committees. EBs notice. Your work changing votes in another room is the closest thing to objective impact in MUN.
