How to Win Best Delegate — A Strategic Manual

Best Delegate is not won by the loudest voice in the room. It is won by the delegate the executive board cannot remove from the resolution. Here is how that gets engineered.

Frame the Agenda Early

The first three substantive speeches set the room's vocabulary. If your framing — your terms, your priorities, your divisions — becomes the room's framing, every subsequent debate is fought on your terrain.

Lead a Bloc, Don't Join One

Joining a bloc gives you a vote. Leading one gives you the pen. EBs reward the delegate whose name appears on the working paper, not the one who signed it third.

Move Substantive Directives

In crisis, directive count is a proxy for impact. Move them constantly. Make them specific. A directive ordering "the deployment of two battalions of the 7th infantry to the Donbas via rail by 0600 Zulu" reads as a delegate who knows what they are doing.

Manage the EB

Eye contact during speeches. Concise points of information. No procedural mistakes. EBs score on a rubric, but they remember on impressions. Give them no reason to hesitate.
